Future Installation (Grand Fir)

An edition of three, Future Installation (Grand Fir) is a take-away installation in which the patron of the work becomes a key collaborator. Each sapling is housed in a wood box which also contains an artist book. The book contains care and planting guidelines for the tree, as well as a contract between the patron and artist. The tree is planted, and in roughly 20 years time the artist travels to the location– completing the book illustrations and building an installation in the mature tree. Like the site-specific Perch installations, body-space relationships in nature are explored, but now projected over a long period of time.

Specifications: Salvaged wood, soil, Grand Fir sapling, artist book, glass, hardware.
